YogaShala is a Sanskrit word
meaning Yoga School. Namaste YogaShala was the first school in the state
of Michigan to be registered with the Yoga Alliance. The school provides a program
that includes in-depth understanding of the basic concepts of yoga
beyond those offered in regular classes followed
by student teaching for those students interested in developing a
teaching practice. Upon successful completion of the complete program, the
graduate is eligible for national registration through the Yoga Alliance
which entitles the graduate to be recognized nationally as a Registered Yoga
Teacher (RYT). If you are interested in Module I to deepen your

CURRICULUM
Meets the new requirements of the Yoga Alliance for the 200
Hour Teacher Training Program. Namaste is a Registered Yoga
School (RYS) with the Yoga Alliance since 2000, the first program to be
registered with the Yoga Alliance in the state of Michigan.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applications can be accessed by printing out the form (Application
Form), completing, and mailing to: Namaste Yoga 309 S. Troy
St. Royal Oak, MI 48067. A non-refundable $100 application fee is
required. Prospective students are asked to contact Linda K.

TUITION PAYMENTS
The full tuition of $2250.00 is due the
first day of class. Special payment arrangements are available
in some cases.
REFUNDS
Full refund two weeks prior to
start of the YogaShala term. No refunds thereafter. All refunds will be
less a $100 processing fee. All requests for refunds must be
received in writing. Tuition is non-transferable and may not be applied
to future YogaShala enrollment.
PROGRAM OUTLINE
Module I - Foundation
The curriculum meets the new requirements of the Yoga Alliance 200 hour program.
An
introduction to yoga-related history, philosophy and literature will be
covered through the classic texts. The format will include small
and large group discussion of assigned readings, classroom
demonstrations, experiential exercises, completing written assignments and a final written exam.
Students will learn and practice meditation, asana, and pranayama
in every session. Students are encouraged and supported to
continue a daily personal practice and keep a personal journal. The core of this part
of the program will be offered on Sunday sessions from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
Module II - Student
Teaching
This portion of the Teacher Training program
will focus on teaching methodologies, anatomy and
physiology, practice teaching individually and in groups, professional ethics, teaching special needs populations, and
safety in the teaching environment. In addition, students will select a
mentor that will guide them through student teaching requirements. Students who live outside the
Detroit Metro area may make arrangements with the Shala director to
work with a teacher in their specific geographical area. The student
teacher will assist/facilitate public classes with their mentor. The student teacher will begin to teach on a
limited, supervised basis. Students must also complete six
hours of community service (Karma Yoga) a requirement that may begin during this second 8
weeks.
Upon the
successful completion of the program, the student will be
eligible for registration as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the
Yoga Alliance.
