Yoga & the Fight or Flight Response
We know that yoga can help with stress and learning to relax, but do you know why or how? Explore how yoga profounding impacts our nervous system in this 2 hour workshop. We’ll start with an intentional somatic practice then discuss the science behind the yoga.
Yoga can affect change in the somatic nervous system by learning how to divert your mind’s attention, like when you focus on your breath. When you make that voluntary shift, your heart rate slows and this is the first indicator that the body feels safe. Lower respiration rates have immediate effects on the body including reducing blood pressure, heart rate, and even changes in body temperature.
Introduction to Ayurveda
Ayurveda is often referred to as a sister practice to Yoga. Ayurveda is a holistic practice that has guided individuals towards balance and health for over 5,000 years. Rooted in the belief that wellness comes from a harmonious balance between mind, body, and spirit, Ayurveda offers profound insights and practical techniques to optimize health and vitality.
In this workshop, you will learn:
The Science of Ayurveda
Exploring the Foundations
The Role of Ayurvedic Practices
Integrating Ayurveda into Daily Life
Myofacial Release
This fun and interactive class will focus on techniques to release your muscles, fascia, connective tissues and tendons. Self myofascial release (SMFR) is a self massage technique, utilizing blocks, balls and other props to help you relax. We will learn about the benefits of releasing the stress held in tight connective tissues and muscles. SMFR stimulates and relaxes constricted tissues.
Tight myofascial tissue can restrict movement in your joints and muscles, causing tightness, tension, and ‘knots’ you can’t get rid of. Because these areas are tighter, they may create imbalances in the way you move, with can create additional tightness that you’re not immediately aware of.
These techniques are being incorporated into some Yin yoga classes as well as other classes. You will feel like you have had a massage and can use these techniques in classes and at home.
In-studio only.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga is a practice for relaxing and calming the nervous system that bridges asana with the physical and mental benefits of yoga. By tapping into how our body responds to relaxation in a safe, secure environment, Restorative Yoga can be a transformative practice. It is grounded by principles that promote comfort and safety so that the mind can find a state of deep relaxation. This relaxed state allows access to the parasympathetic nervous system, the body's natural relaxation response.

FREE Community Conversation: The Chakras & Energy Systems
Join Namaste Yoga’s expert on all things energy systems and chakras, Rachele Rose RYT-200; Reiki Master & Pranic Healer, and Kyla Remus E-RYT 500 for an overview and discussion about the chakras and energy systems.
The chakras are various focal points used in a variety of ancient meditation practices and are considered part of the subtle body in yoga practice. These energy systems were first referenced in the Vedas, ancient yogic texts that described yogic practice. The Chakras are part of ideas and concepts about physiology and psychic centers that have emerged across Indian traditions. The Chakras are believed to be the avenues by which prana or vayu (life energy) are transported along with nadi (energy carrying arteries). The chakra is, in many ways, considered the vital energy centers of the body.

“Say what you mean: A mindful approach to non-violent communication”
Join Jeannette and Kyla for an 8-week exploration of “Say What You Mean”, a book about mindful communication.
Communication is hard. Non-violent communication offers an approach that embraces the belief that all humans are compassionate beings but become difficult (violent) as a learned behavior to get their needs met. Learn how to apply principles of non-violent communication with principles of yoga and mindfulness such as (1) presence: bringing mindful awareness to the interaction, (2) intention: clarifying and setting a goal for the interaction, and (3) attention: learning to really hear and understand in a way that enables you to navigate the difficulties, express yourself clearly, and listen like it really matters--which it most certainly does.
In studio and virtual.
